Widelene Desarmes
Founder & Principal
Widelene Desarmes is a passionate and visionary leader who believes in building school environments that enable teachers to flourish and, in turn, students to excel. She has spent over 15 years as an educator, advocate, and administrator in public and charter schools. In previous roles, she served as principal of an elementary and middle school in Camden, New Jersey, turnaround principal in Cleveland, Ohio, and founding assistant principal in Washington, DC. She began her career teaching middle school math in NE DC. Widelene has worked with schools and education focused organizations to assess organizational needs and find innovative ways to improve student outcomes. She has also worked in the design and implementation of school based programs, as well as experience overseeing partnerships with schools to ensure high quality program implementation that results in desired programmatic and student outcomes. As a school leader, Widelene has consistently delivered on the promise of guiding each of her schools toward greater student retention, improved community relationships, and higher student achievement.
Widelene received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminology from the University of Florida, her Master of Arts in Teaching, and in School Administration and Supervision from The Johns Hopkins University.
